Catch Up Time

Time has totally ran away from me, and I have been very naughty with my Blogging! *sits in the naughty corner*

I will share some recent makes over the next few days to catch up with things!

The first thing I will share is this butterfly card I made for my DT post on the Sarah Hurley 365 Blog.

Full details are over on the blog.

Birthdays Galore!

Brrrrr from a very cold Glasgow. The last few days have been really busy with Christmas makes and 3 birthdays in the space of a few days.

This first quickie post is a card I made for my nieces birthday, she loves skulls and really isn’t a “girly girl” so I opted to make the card monochrome.

Thanks for popping by.

Happy Cake Day!

Hi, another wee catch up post from me with creations I have made but not blogged.
This card was made for my emergency card box, as a crafter I always find I can never have enough cards for occasions, especially as my family and friends are quite partial to using my cards 😉

It’s been a while!

Just realised it has been over a month since I last blogged, so brace yourselves I have lots of new things to share.
I will start the catch up with my February PL Page. I am loving PL as I can do lots of different things on one project. In this one I stamped, embellished, punched and used my Cameo.

It’s time to celebrate!!

And what better way to do it than to make beautiful things to commemorate it. The Sarah Hurley Designs challenge is 4 years old this month and we are hosting a Celebration Themed Challenge.

I decided to make a baby card for a complete change! I am loving the different styles of journalling cards Sarah has over at the Silhouette Store and used the Baby Journalling Card as the main focus of the card. I stamped some tiny clusters of stars from the Doodle Doll Stamps and stamped them round the card with VersaMark ink then clear embossed them. I distressed the card using Worn Lipstick and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks. I cut an extra journalling card, and removed the baby word, distressed it with Black Soot DI and placed it on the chevrons. I popped the journalling card onto some 3D foam to give the card some dimension.

I used the Chevron Background Stamp, which I inked with lilac and pink pearlescent Brilliance inks, then covered with clear embossing powders and heat sealed it. Such a great look for not an awful lot of work. I really love inking this stamp up with different colours, it always looks great for a large background.

Speech bubbles.

Hello, it’s the 5th of the month which can only mean one thing…new challenge over at Sarah Hurley 365 and this time Nicole has picked the theme of “Speech Bubbles”

A lot of my regular readers will be surprised to see I have made a scrapbook page, I felt like a change, and after taking this picture of our Great Niece at the park, I really had to do something special with it.

As a new owner of a Cameo, I thought I should play with some of Sarah’s Files from the Silhouette Store. There are lots of great cutting files to chose from, and I opted for the Speech Bubble Background as the main layer for my page. I love the versatility of the files as you can resize them to suit your project. I made it 8×8 and cut a piece of contrasting pink paper to put under it.

I stamped “Smile” and “Snapshot” into a couple of the bubbles using sentiments from the  Picture This Stamps. I loved the Chevron papers from last months A Few of My Favourite Things Kit, it is a 12×12 so was fabulous for this lay out, and means I can make a few things from the one sheet of paper!

I had taken lots of pictures of the little one at the park (she smiles as soon as she sees you are taking a picture), and the heron, ducks and squirrels and printed out a few, layered them onto purple pearlescent paper and linked them all together with some strips of punched paper. My tip is to use colours that compliment the picture.

I used a 12×12 sheet of purple glittery card and layered everything onto it, I decided to do things at an angle for a change, even the title of the page and I am really pleased with the result. I wrote a wee story on a bit of black card with a chalk marker, chalked around the edge and popped it beside the picture. I finished the page with a scattering of sequins, I used glitter glue for them, the  more sparkle the better.

I hope you can pop over and join in with our Speech Bubbles Challenge, there are some great prizes up for grabs!

It’s all about the background.

This month over at the Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog the theme is “Create Your Own Background”. That is always daunting to me, as I tend to over think things, this time I drew out a sketch of my card and went from there with the ideas I had.

I got a piece of white card and masked the bottom half of with a post it note so I could stamp the wallpaper. I used the stripe stamps from the Doodle Doll Halloween Edition Witch stamps set. I stamped the fireplace from the Fireside Kisses stamp set onto a separate piece of card, and cut it out, I used Distress Inks to colour the bricks, and Flexmarkers for the top and bottom. I cut out the central part of the fireplace and added some black paper behind it and made a fire to make it look cosy and wintery. I used a die to make the stockings in felt and popped them on.  The mistletoe is also from the Fireplace Kisses set and I popped some tiny pearls on to be the berries. The girl and the sentiment come from the Be Amazing Doodle Doll stamp set, I just love these as they are so versatile and fun. I thought I should make her a wee bit more festive and popped some snowflakes and holly onto her, they come from the Christmas Tags Holly Jolly Stamps. To add some extra sparkle, I put some red gems on as the holly berries. I coloured her dress with FlexMarkers and her hair and holly with Promarkers. I used lots of foam squares to give the card lots of dimension, will need to pop some other pictures on.

Distress Ink, Memento Ink, Archival Ink.

I hope you can join us for the last challenge of the year.

Live your dream.

What a dreadful day it is here today, heavy rain, freezing cold, damp and dark.  So I thought I would share a nice bright and cheery card with you all.

I made this for the Lookbook from Sarah Hurley using the Doodle Doll Princess Stamp Set. I got a piece of white card and used the star border from the set to make the corners. I used lots of bright colours of ink to make it really pop.  Once I had completed that I stamped the princess onto it and coloured her hair, eyes and face with Promarkers. I just love the sentiments that are part of this set and this one was perfect for the card.
